Odion Ighalo’s Manchester United stint set to come to end

Odion Ighalo could be forced to miss some of Man Utd’s remaining fixtures as Shanghai Shenhua expect the striker to return from his loan spell by July.

The Nigerian forward has impressed in his brief time at Old Trafford since joining the club on loan in January, but his deal expires next month.

United were hopeful of extending that date further to allow for the delay in completing the Premier League season due to coronavirus.

But according to Sky Sports, Ighalo could now be summoned back at the end of his loan deal as Shenhua want him ready in time for the Chinese Super League season, which starts in July.

United were weighing up signing Ighalo on a permanent basis this summer after being pleased with his impact, report the Mirror.

That could prove to be the only way of keeping the 30-year-old at the club, with Shenhua holding out for a £20million transfer fee.

Borussia Dortmund circle for Chelsea starlet as Bundesliga club look for next Jadon Sancho

Reports in England claim Borussia Dortmund are lining up a move for Chelsea starlet Charlie Webster as the German giants look to unearth the next Jadon Sancho.

According to Sportsmail, 16-year-old Webster is the latest exciting star to emerge from Chelsea’s talent factory, and has been hotly-tipped to excel at the highest level.

The central midfielder, who has been capped for England at under-16 level, picked up the player of the tournament award at the Kevin De Bruyne under-15s cup in Belgium last summer.

And The Sun report that the Bundesliga outfit Dortmund have been made aware that Webster could be made available to purchase and are interested in landing the talented youngster.

Chelsea have a reputation for making youngsters wait a long time to earn their shot at the first team, and Dortmund are hoping to lure Webster with the offer of a fast-track to the professional ranks, as they did with Sancho.

Sancho was purchased by Dortmund from Manchester City for £8million in the summer of 2017, and the England international has gone on to achieve roaring success at BVB, making himself one of world football’s top prospects.

Dortmund’s tried and tested model makes them an attractive proposition for any top youngster, and their signing of Erling Haaland from Red Bull Salzburg in January serves to highlight their global appeal.

Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk reveals why he snubbed Chelsea, Manchester City

Virgil van Dijk has revealed why he joined Liverpool rather than the likes of Chelsea, Man City, and Arsenal.

The former Southampton defender had been subject to the attention of a number of top Premier League clubs for more than 12 months previous, with interest from the Blues strong enough for the centre-back to be given a City shirt from his teammates in their 2016 Secret Santa.

However, the Guardiola-tutored side’s valuation of the player did not meet Southampton’s and they were not prepared to spend the world-record fee for a defender that Liverpool did when they agreed to pay £75m.

Van Dijk may not have had other offers on the table when Liverpool came up, but that did not mean he rushed into the move.

He carefully considered Liverpool’s past, present, and future before agreeing a move to the Premier League side in December 2017.

Van Dijk told BT Sport: “Before I made the decision to choose Liverpool, I looked at all the aspects of the clubs; the way of playing, the team-mates, the future as well.

“The city, the fans everything has got to be big part of joining a club.

“I think Liverpool at that time when I made the decision was the right decision and obviously to reach the Champions League final in my first six months was obviously a big bonus and helped me a lot in my development.”

Juventus intensify effort to secure Jorginho, Emerson from Chelsea

Reports in Italy are gathering steam that Maurizio Sarri wants a reunion with Chelsea midfielder Jorginho at Juventus, same goes for Emerson Palmieri.

But Jorginho has said he wants to continue winning over the fans who had been dubious about him at Stamford Bridge, but a return to Serie A would also be tempting.

He worked with Sarri at Napoli, following him to Chelsea, and would seem to be a natural replacement for Pjanic, who has struggled to get to grips with the tactician’s approach.

Calciomercato.com claim Chelsea are asking for €40m in order to part with Jorginho, having paid €57m to sign him from Napoli in the summer of 2018.

According to Football Italia, it is possible there will be a double deal involving the two clubs, as Jorginho could make the move along with full-back Emerson.

Juve have said they are eager to use exchanges to keep the cost of operations down in future, so they have several players that Chelsea are interested in.

Those include Pjanic, Adrien Rabiot and above all Alex Sandro.
