Frank Lampard hits back at Jurgen Klopp

Frank Lampard has hit back at Jurgen Klopp again after he was accused of disrespect following their touchline bust-up at Anfield.

The Blues boss was embroiled in touchline spat with Liverpool bench during a tension-soaked match between his club and the Reds during the week.

Lampard said the Reds bench was arrogant during their 5-3 win.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has rejected the claim and said Lampard needed to learn to “close the book” on touchline rows.

The Chelsea boss said: “I think when you speak between managers, and there are lots of decisions that go and you can hear it more clearly now without the crowd.

“And lots of managers will call for decisions and it may be right or wrong. And then you speak with each other.

“But when people on the bench jump up and want to speak across to myself and then smirk and smile and then continue to do so for quite a while, I think that is past the code.

“With cameras and microphones it was in full view and I regret the language that I used.

“I couldn’t help the passion that I felt. It wasn’t a foul as I saw it but even then I shouldn’t be swearing but I had an issue with some of the staff and it was against the code of how it works on the bench.”

The Englishman added: “I do have an edge. I would not have been able to play for Chelsea for so long in a team that was fighting for Premier League or Champions League winners in pretty much every season I was here.

“I have seen people around me who have an edge.

“I can’t stand there and demand an edge from my players after Sheffield United and not have that in myself to try to drive the club forward.

“It is not the right way to do it with the language I used.”

Chelsea, Barcelona, Manchester City miss out on French wonderkid

Chelsea, Barcelona and Manchester City have missed out on the signing of French wonderkid Edouard Michut.

The highly-rated 17-year-old has opted to sign a three-year professional contract with the Paris Saint-Germain until 30 June 2023 to end speculation over his future.

Michut has been labelled as the “new Marco Verratti” after impressing at youth level for the French giants.

In 2016 the right-footed midfielder joined the U14s at the PSG youth academy, going on to become a France youth international winning two caps for the U16s and three caps for the U17s.

Born in Aix-les-Bains in France’s Savoie region, Édouard was a regular starter for PSG’s U17s during the 2019-2020 season, making 19 appearances, 3 assists and scoring 2 goals.

His potential attracted the interest from clubs across Europe including Barcelona, Juventus, Valencia, Chelsea and Man City.

Lionel Messi’s father sparks speculation of son’s sensational Serie A move

Lionel Messi’s father has sparked speculation of his son’s possible move to Inter Milan after he is said to have taken up residence in Milan, close to the Serie A club’s new headquarters.

Italian media outlet Rai claims that Jorge, who is also the captain’s agent, will negotiate Messi’s transfer to the Nerazzurri from the 2021-2022 season onwards when his contract expires.

Messi senior, according to Corriere dello Sport, has purchased property on via Colombo, in the Porta Nuova area of Milan, a stones throw away from Inter’s headquarters.

A more logical explanation for this is the tax breaks afforded to those who move to Italy.

Living in Italy offers the best taxation for his son’s interests as Messi invoices billions, as revealed by Sempreinter, between his salary, sponsorship deals and other things and his economic interests will be moved to Milan.

This has, however, already been denied by the Argentine’s camp to Catalan counterparts such as Mundo Deportivo.

REVEALED: How Chelsea chief Marina Granovskaia convinced Olivier Giroud to stay at Stamford Bridge

Reports in England have revealed how Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia reportedly convinced Olivier Giroud to stay at the club because of her close friendship with his wife Jennifer.

The 33-year-old was pushing for an exit away from Stamford Bridge in January as he was playing second fiddle to Tammy Abraham.

But the Blues blocked the French international from leaving, with the striker insisting that Inter MIlan, Lazio and Tottenham were all keen to sign him.

And now it has been revealed that Granovskaia played a key role in the former Arsenal man staying at the club, report The Sun.

Speaking on the Byline Podcast, journalist Christian Falk said: “Marina was the one who stopped Giroud leaving in the winter as she was really close to his wife.”

And the decision to keep Giroud at Chelsea has proven to be instrumental, with the player scoring six times since the restart of football.

Five of his goals have come in the Premier League, while he also fired in the opener against Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final.

Giroud has stated that he did everything in his power to leave the West London outfit, as he said: “Even I saw myself elsewhere to be honest.

“I went through six complicated months. That’s why I tried to leave in January.

“I did everything [to leave]. In the end, with the circumstances, Chelsea did not want to let me go. The crucial condition for my departure was to have a replacement.

“The most interesting club for me was Inter Milan. The problem is that it dragged on.

“In the end, and even if Lazio were there towards the end and Tottenham too, it was no longer a question of where I was going to leave but could I leave. There was nothing to do. I was stuck.”

Barcelona move to thwart Chelsea move for Marc ter Stegen as replacement for Kepa

Barcelona reportedly planning to ward off Chelsea move for their goalkeeper goalkeeper Marc ter Stegen.

The Blues are said to be angling for the German as the London club are determined to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga as a result of inconsistent performances.

Frank Lampard is reportedly resolute to remove the Spaniard as the club’s No. 1 goalkeeper, and has therefore lined up a number of goalkeepers as possible replacement including Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak and Ter Stegen.

This development has forced the Catalan giants to accelerate the renewal talks in order to guarantee his commitment to the club for many years to come and rule out speculation of an exit.

According to El Mundo Deportivo, there is growing confidence a fresh deal can be penned in the coming weeks.

The goalkeeper’s current deal at the Camp Nou runs through until the summer of 2022, after he penned an extended contract in 2017 but contract talks have stalled amid the financial uncertainty following the coronavirus pandemic.

The 27-year-old has demonstrated he is one of football’s elite goalkeepers with a series of world-class performances for the Blaugrana, whom he joined from Borussia Mochengladbach in 2014 for €12m.

REVEALED: Why Chelsea move for Atletico Madrid star may fail

There are reports in Spain that Chelsea’s reported interest in Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez could be short lived due to the Uruguayan international’s €120m release clause.

The Premier League side are rumoured to be on the lookout for a new central defender this summer, following an inconsistent campaign from Frank Lampard’s current defensive options.

Reports from the Daily Mail claim the Blues have been monitoring the 25-year old since the start of 2019-20, alongside alternative targets including Premier League pair Nathan Ake and Declan Rice.

However, according to Football Espana, Atletico’s insistence they do not want to sell Gimenez – less than 12 months after losing Juanfran Torres, Diego Godin and Filipe Luis – and his substantial release clause, could derail a deal.

Diego Simeone wants to build his future defence around Gimenez, who is under contract at the Wanda Metropolitano until 2023.

Zappacosta returns to Stamford Bridge

Reports in Italy claim that Chelsea defender Davide Zappacosta is expected back at Stamford Bridge at the end of the league season in the country.

AS Roma are reportedly not keen to keep the Italy international following a disappointing loan spell.

The 28-year-old right-back struggled with injury and managed just seven Serie A appearances throughout the season, contributing one assist.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the emergence of Bruno Peres since the lockdown pushed Zappacosta even further down the pecking order at the Stadio Olimpico.

Zappacosta’s loan had initially been only until January, but it was extended for another six months, plus the remnants of the post-COVID campaign.

The Italian tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee in October 2019.

Valencia raid Premier League for Chelsea star, Manchester City ace

Valencia are chasing an audacious double-swoop for Premier League duo Kepa Arrizabalaga and David Silva, according to reports,

The LaLiga side slumped to a disappointing ninth-place finish this season – and are hoping to find a way to improve next time out.

According to 90min, club chiefs believe that moves to bring Kepa and Silva back to Spain could do just the trick.

Finances are expected to be tight at the Mestalla following the coronavirus pandemic, however, making big-money acquisitions difficult.

But with Chelsea rumoured to be desperate to offload their blundering £71million goalkeeper – a multi-year loan move could potentially be thrashed out.
